Apollo Phantom 2.0

Welcome the new Phantom V2 model by the Canadian company Apollo! Building on the huge success of the original Phantom model, this scooter has been significantly improved based on the feedback from riders around the world, making it one of the best scooters in its class on the market. The V2 model comes in multiple variants powered by two highly-efficient carbonless motors and, depending on the variant chosen, it offers a total peak power of 3200 W or 4400 W. With a top speed of 61-70 km/h (depending on the variant) and a range of up to 65 km, the Apollo Phantom V2 takes you wherever you need to go!

Body, design and equipment

The Phantom V2 does not feature any particular element that would stand out from the competition. However, everything is neatly tuned for maximum functionality. The cockpit is where the Phantom V2 takes innovation to the next level. The handlebars are very wide (measuring 69 cm) and terminated by rubberized handles that feel very pleasant and ergonomic to the touch. The handlebars are dominated by a beautiful and well-organized display, which is located in the middle and may be ushering the beginning of the end of the era of standard displays used on other scooters (such as QSS4 or EY3). One of the most interesting features of the hexagonal display is the indicator of estimated range calculated based on the remaining battery voltage. All electronic components on the handlebars, including the hexagonal display, are of a plug-and-play type, which makes them easy to replace. On the left handlebar there is a rear brake lever, a console with buttons controlling the lights (headlight and turn indicators) and a button for activating dual-motor (sport) mode. Unfortunately, the scooter is not fitted with a horn, so it is necessary to get one. On the right handlebar there is a front brake lever, a thumb throttle lever and a console with three buttons allowing turning on the scooter, changing riding modes and cycling between display functions. The Phantom V2 has a built-in headlight providing 1000 lumen brightness and rear turn indicators. Everything is well arranged on the display. The Phantom V2’s lighting system is almost perfect. The front headlight is positioned high, it has distinctive front deck lights and bright orange rear turn indicators. Everything is clearly visible both during the day and at night. The single downside being that the turn signals are only fitted at the back, which means oncoming drivers will not see whether or not you are turning on the road.

The scooter is fitted with 10-inch TOUVT tires that are 3 inches wide. With these tires, the traction is very good at any angle. The recommended maximum tire pressure is 50 psi (approx. 3.5 BAR). However, if you can give up on a few miles of range per charge, we recommend inflating your tires to 45 psi for more comfortable ride and better traction. The tires on the Phantom V2 model are pneumatic (tubed) on split rims for easy tire change. In response to the feedback from riders, the Phantom V2 is equipped with higher quality tubes that better resist puncture. The Phantom V2 has a high-quality rubberized deck that is easy to maintain clean. It measures 52.1 cm in length and 17.8 cm in width. It has a 14.6 cm ground clearance. It is long enough to accommodate both legs and also provides you with a well-sized and angled footrest for more standing room. When looking at the overall build quality of this scooter, there is no better test than real-world conditions. That was why Apollo monitored the feedback from riders who bought the 1st generation model and used it to develop the Phantom V2 model. Everything that users complained about was redesigned and shortcomings were eliminated. One of the most needed changes was the folding mechanism, which was improved in all aspects. The Phantom V2 uses a stem-folding mechanism with a safety pin. This system is rock solid with zero wobbling. To put the steering rod to an upright position, you flip the stem, push the lever up, turn the sleeve to lock the lever in place and insert the safety pin into the steering rod. The handlebar then remains very firm and well secured.

Safety and ride quality

When designing the Apollo Phantom V2 model, special emphasis was put on safety. This e-scooter is stronger, more robust and more stable than previous Apollo models. The revolutionary design of the steering rod and neck allows folding the scooter in less than three seconds. The three independent safety mechanisms give the rider confidence while riding. The Phantom V2 comes with even better build quality, smoother operation and updated features. It is fitted with a unique four-fold suspension that handles with confidence any bumps or holes, be it in the middle of a turn. The great ergonomics of components and the super bright and highly positioned headlight mean that you will have fewer things to worry about when riding at night. It will not be necessary to carry any external headlight. With this scooter, your rides will be comfortable and intuitive in any situation. The Phantom V2 excels in solid performance and features, being a great choice for riders who want to ride their scooters daily.

Power and range

The Apollo Phantom V2 stands out for its fast and smooth ride. It is the result of a combination of riding properties that other scooters in this class will find difficult to compete with. The power of this scooter is more than sufficient as it is equipped with two high-efficiency carbonless motors, each rated at 1200 W or 1400 W (depending on the model). With a peak power of 1600 W or 2200 W per motor, the Phantom V2 has a total power of 3200 W or 4400 W. Thanks to a top speed of 61 – 70 km/h (depending on the model), battery capacity of 52V 23.4Ah or 60V 21Ah and a range of about 65 km, the Phantom V2 easily takes you to work or just for a relaxing weekend ride. However, please note that your range may vary depending on riding conditions. The Phantom V2 is a great all-round scooter. It offers sufficient speed to keep up with traffic, plenty of power to ride uphill and it is also extremely comfortable.

Use and practicality

Is the Phantom V2 super portable? We would rather not claim that. However, for a two-motor scooter its weight of 35-37 kg (depending on the model) is quite average compared to competing machines. When folded, the Phantom V2 measures 124 cm in length, 69 cm in width and 53 cm in height. The handlebars are 69 cm wide and can not be folded. So, please keep this fact in mind when transporting the scooter or trying to pass through a tight space with it. The folding mechanism is simple and quick. Once clicked into the riding position, it is completely solid. It exhibits no wobbling, zero bending and one may say that this is one of the best folding mechanisms out there. The steering bar gets conveniently attached to the rear step and the scooter can then be held by one hand. The Phantom V2 is very easy to secure in your short visits to shops as it provides several convenient spots for locking it. Naturally, always take it inside with you, if possible. It is definitely the safest thing to do. Although the Phantom V2 scooter is not waterproof, like all other Apollo scooters it comes with IP54 water resistance rating (a quick note on the IP rating: the seller’s warranty does not cover any water damage, regardless of whether the given scooter is IP certified or not).
