Straight answers about our plants, how they travel, and what happens after they arrive.

Ordering and plants
Do I receive the exact plant in the photographs?
Yes. Every listing is one individual specimen, photographed as it stands in our growing space. There is no generic stock photo and no ‘similar plant may be sent’ clause — the plant in the images is the plant that will be packed for you.
Because of that, each plant sells once. When a listing disappears it has gone to someone else.
Are the plants rooted, or are these cuttings?
Everything we sell is a rooted, established plant growing in its own pot. Listings state the pot size, the substrate and the approximate height so you know exactly what is arriving. We do not sell unrooted cuttings.
Will the variegation stay on new leaves?
Variegation is genetic, and every plant we sell is already showing it. How strongly it appears on future leaves depends on light, on how the plant is pruned, and on the plant itself — a run of greener or whiter leaves is normal on albo and half-moon plants.
Give a variegated aroid bright indirect light and prune back to a well-marked node if it reverts. What no seller can honestly promise is a specific pattern on leaves that have not grown yet.
Can I ask for more photos or a video before buying?
Yes, and we would rather you did than be disappointed. Email contact@shaqwayaliving.com with the plant name and we will send current photos, including the root system and the back of the leaves.
Shipping
How much does shipping cost?
Nothing. Standard tracked shipping is free on every order within the United States, with no minimum spend, and heat packs and insulated packaging are included at no charge when the weather calls for them.
How quickly will my plant ship?
Orders are prepared within 1–2 business days, and most parcels arrive 2–4 business days after that — so expect delivery within 3–6 business days of ordering. You will get a tracking number by email when the parcel is collected.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not at present. Moving live plants across borders needs phytosanitary certification and import permits that differ by country, and we would rather not ship at all than ship something that gets held or destroyed at a border.
What happens if it is freezing where I live?
We watch the forecast along the route. If temperatures are severe we hold the order for a few days and email you rather than send a plant into a frozen depot. You can ask us to ship anyway, but plants sent against a weather hold travel at your risk.
How are the plants packed?
The pot is wrapped and braced so the substrate cannot move, the leaves are supported with soft paper, larger plants are staked inside the carton, and the box is labelled as live plants. A heat pack and insulation go in whenever the forecast needs them.
After delivery
My plant has just arrived. What should I do first?
Open the box within 24 hours. Unwrap the plant, check the substrate, and stand it somewhere bright but out of direct sun. Do not repot it straight away — let it settle for two to three weeks first.
Water only once you have checked the substrate: plants are often shipped damp, and a well-meant watering on arrival is the most common way a healthy plant is lost.
A lower leaf has yellowed since it arrived. Is something wrong?
Usually not. Aroids commonly drop an older leaf after travelling while they redirect energy into roots and new growth. Collapse is different — mushy stems, rot at the base, or the loss of every growth point. If you see that, photograph it and contact us within the 30-day guarantee.
What does the 30-day guarantee cover?
Damage in transit, rot present on arrival, a plant that is not what was listed, and failure to establish within 30 days despite reasonable care. It does not cover overwatering, cold damage in your own home, or pests brought in from other plants. The full terms are on our 30-Day Plant Guarantee page.
Can I return a plant if I change my mind?
Yes, within 30 days, as long as it has not been repotted, propagated or divided. Contact us first for a return address. A prepaid return label is included in your parcel, so returning it costs you nothing, and there is no restocking fee. We can also exchange it for another plant if you would rather. See the Return & Refund Policy.
Payment and orders
Which payment methods do you accept?
The payment methods available for your order are always shown at checkout before you confirm it.
Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor over an encrypted connection, and card details are never stored on our servers.
When am I charged?
At the point the order is placed. If we cannot ship a plant — because of a state restriction, or because something happens to the specimen before dispatch — we refund you in full straight away.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, at any point before it is dispatched. Email us with the order number and we will stop the parcel and refund it in full.
Do you sell wholesale, or to shops?
We do, in small volumes. Tell us what you are looking for through our Business Inquiries page and we will reply with what is available.
